Piano Pals is a piano practice companion built for families with young pianists. We try to collect as little as possible. This page explains exactly what we do collect, why, and how to get it removed.

What we collect

What we do NOT collect

How we use AI

Some features (the practice-quest generator, the weekly progress recap) send the lesson notes and practice data you've entered to Anthropic's Claude API to produce the output text. These calls are not used to train models. Anthropic's API terms apply.

Children's privacy

The app is designed for parents managing data on behalf of their children. Children do not create accounts directly — only the parent signs in. We follow this design specifically to comply with COPPA and similar youth-privacy regulations. Children may use the device to practice, but the parent owns the account and the data.

Sharing

Data for a given child is shared only with parent accounts that the primary parent explicitly invites via the in-app sharing flow. There is no public discovery and no leaderboard.

Retention & deletion

You can delete a child profile from the Kids tab at any time, which permanently removes their pieces, lesson notes, quests, sight-reading scores, and trophies (cascading deletes in our database). Account deletion: email us at the address below and we'll wipe your account and all associated data within 30 days.

Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on managed cloud infrastructure. We use industry-standard authentication and access controls, but no system is perfectly secure — please choose a strong PIN for the in-app practice-mode lock if you use that feature.
